Mauritius Weather

Welcome to the Mauritius Weather Page.

The up to date online informtation about the weather forecast and climate conditions for Mauritius Island.

The small and densely populated holiday island of Mauritius has a tropical climate affording year round fine weather and plentiful sunshine. It is made up of coastal plains and volcanic hills which can affect the climatic pattern. While enjoying long days of sunshine, the heat is more moderate than other islands in the region and offers comfortable temperatures in which to indulge in energetic pursuits and outdoor sports. Although rain can fall at any time, Mauritius weather sees a distinct rainy season during winter which produces slightly higher temperatures and added humidity which can become unpleasant.

Mauritius weather and climate variations...

Mauritius has a fascinating blend of seasons, all of them tropically mild.
The summer months, November to April provide coastal teperatures of up to 34 degrees Celsius. The cooler months May to October are still wonderfully warm with the average temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. Even when it’s above 30 degrees C on the coast, the towns inland on higher grounds are usually cooler. Curepipe for instance is a town situated on the central plateau, one of the higher regions of Mauritius. The temperature difference between this town and a coastal resort can be significant. You can venture out on some long romantic walks along the sandy beaches of Mauritius at sunset.

The temperature of the interior regions particularly the more central part of Mauritius at around 600 metres is usually around 5 degrees lower.

The most pleasant periods to go to Mauritius for a holiday, in our opinion, are either April to June or September to November.

The Mauritian 'winter' occurs from May to November, when daytime temperatures drop to a warm comfort. With less rain and humidity, this is one of the nicest times to visit. The peak cyclone season is between January and March.

Best time to go to Mauritius.....
Because there are no extreme climate conditions, except for the rare cyclones that last a few days, you can go pretty much anytime. That of course gives Mauritius a strategic advantage over other tourist destinations. The country and its climate is indeed attracting a increasing number of tourists thus positioning Mauritius on the top lists of world holiday destinations.
